I noticed this too.
Not sure if it's related, but after the patch I started to drop in a 6 PPCs Stalker. Before I was running an ECM Raven.

I do notice much quicker heat buildup esp when my builds are very hot and has already run very close to the limit. After this patch, I go over the limit far too quickly and overriding seems to be much slower than before as well.

They might've squirreled in some "cumulative exponential effect". Like if you fire more waepons at once, you gain even more heat than each individual weapon is theoretically contributing.

Actually felt a bit better to me, but I think it's just me getting excited, doubt there was a change. Keep in mind that they changed the way the shutdown override mechanic works, maybe it just feels weird for now. Makes way more sense to me now tbh.

One of my builds is a 6xLL Stalker - I am confident that no one calls this a cool running variant.
Fielding this loadout since dozens of matches I know exactly how often I can alpha on which movement speed on every map, when to use only 2 LL, how much heat I have to cool down to be able to use 4 LL and how much time it takes.

TL;DR:
No, no change in heat build up / dissipation at all noticed on my side.

I thought my heat is slightly more efficient than before. I ended up upgrading one of my Mechs to from 2 x Large Lasers to ER's due to what feels like better heat efficiency. Could it be a netcode thing? Is heat tracked and controlled by the server? Maybe some of us were getting erroneous data? Tweaks to ambient temps on maps perhaps?

Well, there may have been a slight change as on my 4LL CTF which has 18 DHS i could alpha from 65-69% heat without overheating and after the patch i had to lower that threshold to 60-62% to be sure as i overheated a few times. Those % numbers are from relatively heat neutral maps ie.: River City and the non-snowy Forest Colony.

Overriding seems alot longer than before... I mean like, its so long it felt like it wasn't overriding at all but just normal restarting after heat subsiding... anyone experienced the same?

I thought this too. My 2xUAC5, 4xML DHS CPLT-K2, usually a pretty cool running build, was having overheat problems that I hadn't experienced pre 1/22 patch.

Why do people keep talking about this? There is no such thing, and the Devs have said they don't plan to do this.

I agree, and the Override HUD still on screen after restarting mech is back.

I have experienced an increase in heat or a slowdown is dissipation since the patch.

I'm pretty sure something has changed. It's subtle, but all of my mechs are getting the "heat warning" more often than before. The kicker for me was my K2. I haven't changed its loadout and it never had heat issues at all. Now it does, even on the snow maps.

It may just be that our heat level is server authoritative. Perhaps your heat levels lagged behind what they should have been and the net code fix put it back to where it should be.

Perhaps someone from PGI can chime in here and tell us whether we're all just crazy, trigger happy fools or if they actually did change something (intentionally or unintentionally)?

I was able to test it on caustic map, and heat dissipates faster when not moving or walking slower.
